Averest: Specification, Verification, and Implementation of Reactive Systems

چکیده
Figure 1 shows the Averest design flow: A given Quartz program is first translated to a symbolically represented transition system in Averest’s Interchange Format AIF that is based on XML. Temporal logic specifications are thereby translated to alternating ω-automata and/or μ-calculus formulas. Depending on the used data types (integers with limited or unlimited bitwidth), the resulting transition systems have finitely or infinitely many states. The AIF description can then be used for verification and for code generation. In the following, we briefly describe the main tools of Averest, i.e., Ruby, Beryl, and Topaz.

A unified model checking framework for the supervisor synthesis problem
Abstract. The supervisor synthesis problem asks whether one can restrict the behavior of a reactive system such that it satisfies a given specification. As it is more general, this problem is harder than the verification problem. Several approaches based on different logics have been developed to tackle the supervisor synthesis problem. In this paper, we show that the most prominent logics, nam...
متن کاملA Framework for Verifying and Implementing Embedded Systems
We present a framework for the development of embedded systems called Averest. It includes a compiler for synchronous programs, a symbolic model checker, and a tool for hardware and/or software synthesis. Averest can be used for modeling and verifying finite as well as infinite state systems. Thus, Averest is not only well–suited for hardware design, but also for the development of embedded sof...
متن کاملA Rigorous Method for Testing Real-Time Reactive Systems
Real-time reactive systems are complex systems to design and verify. Rigorous testing of realtime reactive systems complement the more difficult and expensive formal verification process. This paper gives a rigorous method for black-box testing of real-time reactive systems whose design specifications are given in the Timed Reactive Object Model (TROM) formalism. 1 Introdu tion This paper discu...
متن کاملA model for specification, composition and verification of access control policies and its application to web services
Despite significant advances in the access control domain, requirements of new computational environments like web services still raise new challenges. Lack of appropriate method for specification of access control policies (ACPs), composition, verification and analysis of them have all made the access control in the composition of web services a complicated problem. In this paper, a new indepe...
متن کاملLow-cost embedded systems design using Statecharts
The main goal of the work here presented is to support the whole development cycle of low-cost embedded systems modelled by Statecharts, from specification to implementation. Specific goals include automatically verification of proprieties and generation of executable code for low cost hardware platforms, starting with the Statechart high-level specification of the reactive system. Micro-contro...
